29th April 2014
It is with deep sadness that we have to report the tragic death of Matthew Stringer, who was at Ermysted’s 2000-2006. He was aged just 26 and passed away on 11th April after being hit by a train near South Elmsall in West Yorkshire.
Matthew was very into music, playing bass guitar in a local band, and volunteering at community radio station Drystone Radio in Cowling while a pupil at Ermysted’s, later going on to be Station Manager there.
Donations in his memory can be made to Cloth Cat, a Leeds-based charity, which provides music training to help people improve the quality of their lives.
Matthew’s funeral will take place at 2pm on 23rd May at Nab Wood Crematorium near Bingley. We have been in touch with his family who say that schoolmates, teachers and friends of Matthew would be most welcome to attend the service.
