Scott Thwaites wins Bronze at Commonwealth Games

3rd August 2014

Old Boy Scott Thwaites (2001-06) got a Bronze medal on the final day of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, after coming third in the cycling road race.

scottthwaitesOn the final day of the Games, Sunday 3 August, the road race was held in pouring rain, the saturated conditions only adding to the challenge the race involves.

The winner of the 168.2km ride was Geraint Thomas from Wales in 4hr:13min:5sec Рnarrowly beating Scott who came in at 4hr:14min:26sec. 140 cyclists began the race but only 12 reached the finishing line Рso an extra special well done and congratulations to Scott.

Scott, from Burley-in-Wharfedale, was at Ermysted’s from 2001 to 2006. We reckon Commonwealth Bronze makes him worthy of inclusion in our Famous Old Boys section, so he becomes the youngest former pupil in our list!
