About this year’s Dinner
The annual Old Boys’ Society Dinner takes place on Saturday 7th September 2019.
Traditionally held each December, our annual reunion fundraising event is moving to September this year as part of efforts to reinvent and reinvigorate the Ermysted’s Old Boys’ Society.
We particularly look forward to welcoming some newer members this year, with discounted tickets available to Old Boys who left school in the last 5 years (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019). Our regular attendees won’t be left out of course – and we hope you’ll enjoy the refreshed atmosphere we’re hoping to create, celebrating all things Ermysted’s and creating opportunities for pupils from throughout the generations to share their stories of life at EGS.
What happens at the Old Boys’ Dinner?
As well as lots of drinks and a three-course meal there will be plenty of opportunity to catch up with old schoolmates, masters and headmasters. The current Headmaster, Michael Evans, will give a brief update of news from the school, and we’ll hear short speeches from a couple of Old Boys representing a variety of eras at Ermysted’s. Towards the end of the night there’ll be some singing to join in with if you’d like to – school tunes such as Forty Years On and Men of the Uplands always go down well after a few drinks! Our MC for the night is legendary EGS master Ian ‘Adge’ Douglass (1968-2004).
There’ll be beer (including hand-pulled real ale again this year), wine, soft drinks and a small selection of spirits available. We also have a variety of other items for sale to help raise funds for the Old Boys’ Society which contributes to the running of the school – these include cufflinks, ties, books and pin badges.
There will be donation envelopes on the tables as usual too, so if you are able to make a financial contribution to our appeal fund then this would be very much appreciated.
Can’t make the Dinner but still want to make a donation, buy a tie or some cufflinks?
