2nd July 2015
The first cricket game between the School 1st XI and the Old Boys in several years was played at Bolton Abbey Cricket Club last Friday afternoon (26th June 2015).
A competitive, high quality contest of 30 overs each side saw School reaching 181-4 in their innings, with OBs eventually requiring a 6 to win off the last ball of the game. We decided that the fairest result would be to let school win and gallantly took only a single from the last delivery!
There were some talented players on show on both sides, with notable OBs performances from Henry Barrow (68 not out), Jake Starkey and brothers John & Pete Wrathmell. Two lads from the EGS First XI, McGladdery and Davies, both made half centuries.
The game was played in a great spirit and after sharing a drink at Bolton Abbey after the game, many ventured into Skipton where the game was relived long into the night. Our thanks to all the Old Boys team who gave their time, with some travelling as far as from London to participate.
Same time next year in what we hope will once again be an annual fixture?!
EGS First XI: 181-4
Old Boys XI: 178-7
