We are so incredibly sad to share the news with you of the death of former Ermysted’s Head Boy Chris Greenwood.
Chris attended our school from 2001 to 2008, was Head Boy 2007-8 and had been living and working in London. He died on 25th August, aged just 26.
Chris was a TV producer / researcher and worked on shows including “Big Star’s Little Star” for ITV and BBC daytime quiz show “Think Tank”.
During his time at Ermysted’s, he was heavily involved with drama and music.
Former Deputy Headmaster, David Clough, said: “A terribly sad loss. An incredibly talented young man and it was an honour to have taught and known him. I fondly remember his directing of the Electric Warrior musical in 2007, which showed what a prodigiously talented person he was. He was destined for great success. Thoughts are with his family and friends at an incredibly difficult time.”
Modern languages teacher, Malcolm Jones added: “Among all his other talents, he was an outstanding German student, and I was thrilled that he chose to pursue his studies in ‘my’ old college. Before that, though, there was the Big Band Tour to Simbach – I’ve just had another look at the DVD – what a joyful occasion, with Chris duetting with Christine on ‘Etwas Dummes’ (Something Stupid), and then raising the roof with ‘Amarillo’. Wonderful memories of Chris, I’m so sad at the news.”
There are two days planned by Chris’ family and friends to mourn and celebrate his life – in London and in Silsden. Details are below if you are able to attend. We’re sure his family would be pleased to see some of his old school friends there.
